Okay here is another post! Through sasha_feather I just found the comm thefridayfive, which posts five questions for you to answer in a post every week.

1. What would you do if you won the lottery?
So I read the article What should you do if you win the lottery? Start a foundation. on Vox last year and I know it's meant as criticism of the way foundations work in US tax law but to be honest I'd probably try to do that, but give myself a smaller salary than is suggested there.

I think I'd also try to keep a version of my current job but like, without the sucky parts of it? I don't want to go into the details in an unlocked post and idk it's possible but that's something I think about fairly often. A colleague of mine did that her last year before retiring: just the fun stuff. Just the stuff we thought this job would be when we got into it.

2. What era do you wish you had lived in?
I do not wish to have lived in a past era but like sasha_feather am interested in the future.

3. What kind of robot would you want?
I expressed a lot of my robot sex feelings my Morgana/Lancelot fic Reset, which feels a little weird to say because Morgana is in a really terrible place in that fic, but I guess that's part of it, I would have really mixed feelings about having a robot (especially if I were in love with Gwen and Gwen had left me for my brother). Also I would really like to have a robot that could kill bugs for me, like Morgana does in that fic.

4. What would you outsource if you could?
I would like it if someone else would kill bugs in my house and keep the floor clean. I can handle most of the other cleaning. There are parts of my job I wish I didn't have to do but I also can't really see giving them to anyone else, alas.

5. What superpower do you wish you had?
I do not wish to have any superpowers but I wish that my body worked and felt more like it did about 10 years ago. I would like to be less tired, and for my stomach and knees and toe not to hurt.

My neck hurts! It's been been hurting since Sunday! It moves around my upper back and my shoulders, but it always hurts! Sometimes it hurts more when I turn my head or shrug my shoulders or when I eat. I went to bed early last night and slept close to ten hours, and today was just as bad!

Happy Mayday! I feel bad that I didn't post more poetry during April. But then again I guess there's no rule against posting poetry at other times of the year.

I put up the sign-up posts for round 6 of remixthedrabble a couple hours ago! I meant to post links from here right away but I've been consumed by a Canadian TV fandom controversy I was previously unaware of. o_0 Hopefully that's been sorted out now. I'm actually terribly nervous about being the primary mod on this challenge for the first time, but I'm also really excited because I love the reading and writing part so much.

This is the Drabble Purist Round, where all the remixes will be exactly 100 words. Sign-ups are open until the 11th and are nonreciprocal again, so you can sign up as a remixee (giving permission for others to write drabbles of your stories) or as a remixer (you'll get four weeks to write a drabble!) or both, as you prefer. As usual, I am making sad puppy dog eyes at all you LotR writers hoping that you'll join in so I can mess with your stuff. :)

Remix Redux will also be happening again this year and will probably include rpf for the first time. If you're interested in the challenge and in particular if you're an rpf writer the mods would love it if you'd fill out this poll about the proposed changes.

Also earlier today I posted a new challenge at lotr_fic_recs, asking for fics with a memorable portrayal of Sean Astin, and mews1945 has already contributed a few recs. I'm hoping we'll get a lot on this one (which will be on for the whole month) since there are a lot of people still writing Sean/Elijah and there's overlap between that group and the hobbit fans who participate in the comm more often.

In non-fannish news, I've had a mysterious headache off and on since Wednesday night, just in a small area on the right side. Not too big a deal and if it had to happen I'm grateful it's this week and not last week, but it is annoying.

Today I'm happy that I've stuck to my tiny daily writing goals so far this month. I've written at least 100 words of fic every day, most of it on my Doctor Who fic for the tindogs_fic exchange. To be honest, this is really not going very well. I've been treating it like a chore and not enjoying it much at all. Most days as soon as I get over the 100 words (which is really very little) I stop and go to do something easier. Connected to that, what I've written has been pretty bad and I still don't know what I'm doing with the story, which needs to be posted by the end of the month. I like the assignment I got but I'm not sure it was a great idea to jump into a new fandom with an exchange where I'll really be letting someone down if I don't finish or if my story sucks. :( I just don't know what I'm doing, writing wise; I feel disconnected from my old hobbit stuff but I haven't found my place with a new fandom either. Still, I am proud for having stuck to the resolution at least, and today I brought it over 1000 words, which is the fest minimum, so that is a happy-making milestone.

I've also stuck with doing this happy meme every day since I started on the second, and I'm feeling really good about that. I worry that I'll run out of happy things to post about and that keeps me looking for them all the time, even looking for the bright side of things that bug me. For instance, yesterday almost as soon as I realized I'd gotten my period I started trying to spin it into something positive (not pregnant, will have most of it over with when I travel next week, etc.). It's nice having an excuse to post about stuff that's not newsworthy or profound but that's on my mind but that could be a chance for a connection with one or two people on my f-list. And of course it cheers me up to write them out.

I'm not sure how well I'll be able to keep up with either of these things while I'm in Seattle next week (the 13th to the 18th) or once school starts up at the end of the month, but I will try. Heck, maybe being busier will be good for me and help me get organized and motivated, or something.

Last night I announced in a_conspiracy that, because of my bad planning, we're moving back the due date for the hobbit remix fics from July 21st to the July 27th. (I need to hurry up and write mine anyway, especially since the last Harry Potter book is coming out on the 21st so it's not like I'll have a lot of time for writing in those last few days.) I also invited people to comment on that post if they'd like to volunteer to beta, so if you've got a little time in the next few weeks that's a way you could help out even if you aren't writing for the challenge. Here is the post.

Me, I just got done betaing a new Frodo/Boromir fic by claudia603 that is, let's say, very heavy on the Sophinisba kinks. My goodness gracious. I can't wait to see what everybody else makes of this one, but I also enjoyed having it all to myself for a few days too. :)
