More thank yous: birthday fic links
Oct. 14th, 2006 01:00 amHere are links to the wonderful fics my friends wrote for my birthday a few weeks ago -- there maybe another one or two on the way. Sorry I took so long to do this post, but hey, maybe you'll find something interesting to read on a Friday night when not many people are posting.
I can't tell you all how wonderful it made me feel to have people create such lovely things just for me. Thank you so very, very much.
mews1945 wrote a ficlet that takes place after the end of her Faculty series Family, Christmas Eve.
layne67 also wrote a Zeke/Casey ficlet that works in nods to quite a few other LJers.
And
aprilkat wrote me a spot-on gapfiller Zeke/Casey double drabble, Illumination.
lorie945 finished off a fantastic series of five things ficlets with a Five Things Alexander Learned from Bagoas, G-rated slash for Mary Renault's The Persian Boy.
claudia603 wrote a set of five drabbles about two hobbits whom I love very much and who love each other very much, Frodo and Merry.
On Leaving
danachan wrote a longer fic about two other hobbits who love each other very much. I hadn't heard about Ilberic Brandybuck and Minto Burrows until a few months ago, when Dana started working on this fic, but now I love them as well. They are just on the edges of the story we're familiar with; we get glimpses of the Travellers, especially toward the end, but the focus is in these Ilberic and Minto and how they helped each other get through that terrible year. The fic is called Of Locked Doors and Secret Gates, and here are the parts: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
It makes me happy that there is so much variety to this list, three different fandoms and everything from immature and horny teenagers and tweens to the deep love and respect of lifelong relationships.
I do love fandom.
