sophinisba: Kalinda in a black bra, orange neon sign says "HOT" (kalinda hot by winterfish)
B and I are watching the Dublin Murders series on Starz, based on the first two books of the Dublin Murder Squad series by Tana French. I have read all of these books and they're all among my favorite books of the last few years. B and my mom are also fans. On the other hand, it's been so long since I read the first two that I don't remember all that much, plus I think they've changed a fair amount for the TV adaptation, so I'm still in suspense.

The second book, The Likeness, is probably my least favorite because I always found the premise totally unbelievable, and I wish they had just made a mini-series out of In the Woods and then each of the others, rather than combine two books as they've done. But what are you gonna do. I am not the boss of the BBC but I dig the show anyway. There have been four episodes so far and I guess there will be four more.

TV shows about tough lady detectives are pretty much my jam, especially if they have accents that are unusual to me. I loved Happy Valley and Scott and Bailey. I loved Top of the Lake and would have loved The Fall if I didn't have to spend so much of it with the murderer. I loved Unbelievable and probably would have loved it more if the characters hadn't been American (but it was based on a true story so that's okay.

Sarah Greene as Cassie looks kinda like Jodie Foster in The Silence of the Lambs but then talks with an Irish accent. Sometimes when we're watching B and I just repeat short lines after the characters because we're so fascinated by their vowels. Her partner Rob is played by Killian Scott who is also hot (although he reminds me a bit of a guy I work with and that's weird) and I get a little bit of a Mulder/Scully shippy vibe from them that is great.
