testing

Last night I copied all the posts in my LJ to my new accounts at greatestjournal and insanejournal, using LJSec and these instructions by brown_betty. Just now I've downloaded Semagic and used these instructions from snapetoy for logging in to multiple journals at the same time, so this is my first attempt to post using Semagic, and the idea is that the post will show up on all three journals. We'll see! I am sophinisba at all three places.

LJSec didn't keep the tags or comments and I think it tries to keep my filters but I don't think there's any way that could work, seeing as I don't have any filters set up at gj or ij. Still it ended up being a lot easier than I'd expected, considering how many entries there were, and I'm thinking I'll use that same program to set up a fic journal (at IJ), something I'd never bothered with before because I'd figured saving and reposting all the individual posts would be a real pain. The links won't work, but I can go back and edit and tag those later, and do a better job with the tags than I have on my own LJ. So this should be interesting (even if it all does make me feel kind of silly, and I can't imagine what I'm going to do with three f-lists).

I suppose I should upload some icons at the other journals at some point, seeing as how that's the main thing I've been paying for at LJ and that the other services offer for free.

Remix fics and authors

We edited the entries at a_conspiracy today to include the authors' names on all the fics. Authors should now feel free to answer feedback, repost wherever they'd like, and of course continue reading and commenting.

I'm really so pleased with how all of this turned out. I've participated in challenges before but this was the first one I'd helped run and everyone participating did such a great job, both with writing and with communicating with Dana and me to help everything go smoothly. Thanks so much to all of you. A list of the fics below the cut.

fic writing challenges

Now that the remix is over, I guess I felt the need to have more stress in my life inspiration to write, because I signed up for two more fic exchanges today. I'd love to see more of my friends sign up for them. Both will have fics posted throughout September.

One is for hobbits, A Movable Feast over at waymeet. Waymeet challenges are usually for members only but this one is open to everybody and I hope a lot of people will sign up and there'll be a good variety of fics and art. Sign-ups close tomorrow (August 6th) for this one so if you've been thinking about it but not sure whether to join in, now is the time.

The other is the Multi-Fandom Character of Color Love Fest at choc_fic. People offered prompts in the comm last month but it's open for anyone to claim them now. (I didn't write a prompt but I claimed one.) Each prompt has a specified day when you need to post the fic, but there is a huge variety in a lot of different fandoms. I'm a little nervous because, well, I'm not actually sure whether I've committed to writing incest for this one (o_0), but I'm excited about it anyway. The deadline for claiming prompts has been extended to August 13th.

I know there are a few other fans of the TV series Homicide: Life on the Street on my f-list. I don't feel like I know the show well enough to try to write in that fandom but I enjoyed azrhiaz's Homicide fic at Yuletide last year and I was happy to see that there are a bunch of Homicide prompts in the fest, quite a few of them claimed already. So, whether or not you want to write, it might be good to friend that comm so you don't miss that great fic about Detective Pembleton or Lt. Giardello that's on the way. Similarly, if you've been wondering where the Hiro/Ando slash or the Wash/Zoe het is, it looks like this could be the place.

This evening I've been reading some great short gen Harry Potter fics in the community dh_predictions. ( cut for vague DH spoilers )
