Fic recs

Say, I don't know how many of you are fans of The West Wing. I watched it a long time ago so I don't talk about it much and I haven't been involved with the online fandom, but I was delighted with the West Wing fic mamadeb wrote for me for purimgifts. It's called Us Poor Sinners and it involves CJ dealing with the stress of her job in a way that's very familiar to some of us. Like the other fics in the fest it puts text together with images and I thought she did an especially nice job working the images into her story.

This was only the second time I've celebrated Purim in any way and I really had fun with the fest. (I'm not Jewish myself and I grew up in a town with no Jews, but I had this second grade teacher who decided to teach us what she could about Jewish holidays. I remember almost nothing of the Purim lesson/party, which none of us really understood anyway.) There weren't all that many participants but we did come up with 66 ficlets in 23 different fandoms (including several in House and Firefly, and some really fantastic Bible fic) featuring Jewish characters and women.
