Feeling fannish

Well hello Dreamwidth, it's been a little over six weeks since I saw Avengers: Endgame and I think I've been on Twitter and read fanfic every day. I watched or rewatched another nine MCU movies, made two podfics, signed up for a fanworks exchange, and wrote 500 words of fic. Not a lot, I know, compared to what some do or to my own 2011 levels, but it's been a real shift for me and mostly awesome.

It has been disconcerting, especially in those first couple days after I came back, to realize that most of the friends I associate with the fandom, the ones whose fics I felt guilty for not reading back in the day when I was resentful of this big new fandom, the ones whose cosplay I admired, the ones I went to see movies with, and so on, have since moved on. Many people I like and whose opinions I value hated the latest movie, and many others just stopped caring a while back. Meanwhile I am overcome with love and feelings like all the time.

Another thing that's going on is that I never figured out how to make new friends after, idk, maybe 2011? And this is something I've been aware of for ages and have probably talked about here on my journal a bunch of times already, but like it used to be there was socializing on LJ and Dreamwidth comms and I moved to Twitter and other people moved to Tumblr, though I guess people have since left Tumblr, and my Twitter is and must remained friends-locked so I barely ever meet new people there, and I still care for all my old friends but also fear I'm annoying many of them, and so on.

But again, mostly awesome! And I'm going to try posting more here as well, though it's not like I haven't said that before. :P
