I saw two movies in the last three days!
I saw Dark Waters, boring title for a good solid movie starring Mark Ruffalo as a lawyer investigating DuPont, who (I had not known) not only dumped toxic chemicals in rivers and near low-income residences but also put them in products that most Americans use. This was all based on a true story and it had been in the news but I hadn't paid attention and anyway it was all very shocking, but shocking in that way that Trump's latest actions and speeches always are, where you think "This is outrageous!" but also are not surprised. I have also been a little surprised not to have heard more people talking about this movie, what with an Avenger being in it and all, but there it is.
My Twitter feed had been talking a lot about Chris Evans in Knives Out, though thankfully in mostly very vague terms. A friend recommended seeing it unspoiled and I did so and I adored it. I have... many thoughts. Like part of me would like to write an academic article about it but who am I kidding that will not happen. Anyway I thought it was great. Here are two non-spoilery thoughts:
-My Twitter feed had led me to believe this movie was all about Chris Evans, whom I like fine, and I was surprised at first at how little I was seeing of him but also delighted by the ensemble cast, especially Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Colette, and Lakeith Stanfield.
-That sweater is, as the Internet had warned me, out of control.
I was intrigued by these previews:
-Little Women
-Emma
-Seberg
-Like a Boss
-Antebellum
Ha ha I keep coming back to edit this list as I remember more stuff.
