Here is a Dom/Elijah ficlet that might well appeal to people who don't usually read the pairing. Frustrating, imperfect sex between people who really want to be together but can't work out exactly how to get there. It's very funny and hot. Mismatch by almostnever.

Also, another slashababy fic that I loved (understand that I still have only read a few), Anyone Who'll Lie Down, Dom/Elijah and Dom/Viggo. I'm thinking I really like fics in which Viggo appears not as the One True Love but as that true friend who's kinda weird and really sexy. I loved the characterization of Dom in this even though it's pretty much Dom at his absolute worst. Congrats to ladysunrope for getting such a cool fic written for her. Authors get revealed Monday. ETA (Jan. 2nd) It is by tarteaucitron, a.k.a. girl_tarte, who writes more HP than lotrips these days. Here's her fic index for 2006.

Yuletide fics are up, woot! I am just starting to look but so far I have been terribly impressed with the quality of these rare fandom fics! The first one I clicked on was a Fried Green Tomatoes fic that does a really beautiful job filling in some of Idgie and Ruth's relationship that got passed over in the book and plain hidden from the movie. Wild Honey ETA (Jan. 2nd): It is by sanj, whose fanfic is archived at sanj_stories.

The organizers of fandom_mashup have set up revisit_me, an LJ community for people who like the idea of remixes but don't want the deadlines or obligations of a formal exchange. Post your info there if you've written fanfic and want to invite others to play in your universe, with as many restrictions as you'd like (you can declare some stories off limits). The mods will be tagging entries by fandom so you can see, for example, all the members who've written LOTR fic. If you write a fic based on or inspired by someone else's, provide a link in a comment in their entry to let them know what you've done. I do hope lots of people sign up for this; as the mods wrote in the userinfo, "The aim here is to encourage more fic writing because that's pretty much a win-win situation for all of fandom." Today (well, yesterday where she is, but in any case April 5th) is sophrosyne31's birthday. I celebrated this morning by rereading Regarding Elijah. Then this evening I saw suzy74's post asking for fics about the fellowship of the cast, and of course someone else was faster than me in coming up with Epiphany. I had realized in between these two events that these are two of my favorite New Zealand fics ever. She also does fabulous AUs, and snippets, and random things, and Harry Potter/Brideshead Revisited crossover omg. And of all the lotrips people she's been one of the sweetest and most welcoming to me as a reader. Hooray for her turning 34!

Okay, I can't help it. Since I'm reposting like a mad thing today, and since some new rps people have friended in the last few months, and since Everything Is Illuminated just came out on DVD, and also in the spirit of the ongoing waymeet Location challenge, a link to my short and solitary real person ficlet, rated G, about Elijah's summer in Prague: Bohemia.

With much help and encouragement from danachan, I've written a Merry/Pippin fic for the Location challenge over at waymeet. It takes place just after the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, on March 16th and 17th in Minas Tirith, and is not cute or lighthearted, though it has its moments. (I wanted to post it on the 17th, but I was too damn slow.) It's my first hobbit slash fic and my first sustained attempt at canon compliance so it was, well, a challenge, but I enjoyed writing it a lot. It is quite long (over 11,000 words) and rated a hard R. The Silent Street

I've written, oh, maybe half of my Frodo spring challenge fic and am enjoying that a lot too, though it's a bit scary. It's, again, somewhat different territory from anything I've tried before, and yet I think anybody who knows me will be able to spot my story right away. Oh my, the same words, the same ideas, over and over again! I'm pretty well aware of it, but I can't seem to think of any other way to say things. :)
